Roma defender Panucci close to Milan return.

According to IlReca.it, Christian Panucci looks poised to re-join Milan after his agent Oscar Damiani met with Milan directors last night.

The 35-year-old plied his trade at the Stadio San Siro from 1993 to January 1997, winning two Scudetti and a Champions League.

It is suggested that ‘El Grinta’ could arrive in Milan this morning to put pen to paper on a one-year-and-a-half contract.

Panucci announced his decision to quit Roma after falling out with boss Luciano Spalletti before the game with Napoli last Sunday.

The versatile defender refused to accept a substitute role at the Stadio San Paolo and was sent to the stands.

There were rumours yesterday that the Lupi could stall his transfer after right-back Marco Cassetti sustained a serious injury which will keep him on the sidelines for at least two months.

Panucci has been associated with a number of sides in recent days and he also stated his desire to leave the peninsula out of respect for the Giallorossi colours, but it now seems that the allure of a return to the Scala del Calcio will prove too difficult to resist.
